Tree & Shrub Pruning

Crown Cleaning

Cleaning is the selective removal of dead, diseased, cracked, and broken branches. This type of pruning is done to reduce the risk of branches falling from the tree and to reduce the movement of decay, insects, and diseases from dead or dying branches into the rest of the tree.

Crown Thinning

Thinning is the selective removal of small live branches to reduce crown density. Thinning increases sunlight penetration and air movement through the crown. Proper thinning retains crown shape and size and should provide an even distribution of foliage throughout the crown.

Crown Raise

Raising is the selective removal of branches to provide vertical clearance. Crown raising shortens or removes lower branches of a tree to provide clearance for buildings, signs, vehicles, pedestrians and vistas.

Crown Reduction

Reduction is the selective removal of branches and stems to decrease the height and/or spread of a tree or shrub. This type of pruning is done to minimize risk of failure, to reduce height or spread, for utility line clearance, to clear vegetation from buildings or other structures, or to improve the appearance of the plant (crown shaping).

Structural Pruning

Structural pruning is the removal of live branches and stems to influence the orientation(direction), spacing, growth rate, strength of attachment, and ultimate size of branches and stems. Structural pruning is used on young and medium-aged trees to help engineer a sustainable trunk and branch arrangement.

Restoration Pruning

Restoration(remedial pruning) is the selective removal of branches, sprouts, and stubs from trees and shrubs that have been topped, severely headed, vandalized, lion tailed, broken in a storm, or otherwise damaged.

Tree Cabling & Bracing

Cables, braces, and guides provide supplemental support by limiting the movement of the branches, leader, or an entire tree. When a tree has a structural defect or condition that poses a high risk of failure, which may result in injury or property damage, a supplemental support system can often reduce the risk.

Stump Removal or Grinding

Trees/Shrubs stumps can be a real hazard, particularly when they’re unexpectedly unearthed in the middle of a new landscaping project. And if you’ve just had our tree removal/felling crew on your site, there’s a good chance you’ll have an unwanted tree stump or two. Our arborist services include stump grinding, an efficient and environmentally friendly method of tree stump removal. And the machinery we access for this job ranges from self-propelled grinders for the smaller residential job to big commercial grinding machines we tow onsite for dealing with tree stumps on a large scale.

Or we can shape the stump to provide a pleasant and unique feature such as a sitting place or flower bed.

Plant Health Care Programs

The goal of Plant Health Care is to maximize plant health and/or maintain them at non-damaging levels.

Trees require certain elements, known as macronutrients, in relatively large quantities. The most important of these macronutrients is nitrogen. Nitrogen is a constituent of proteins and chlorophyll, and it is critical to photosynthesis and other plant processes.

Cat Rescue Service

Has your feline companion climbed their way up a tree or tall structure, but can’t decide how to come down or is too frightened? Sometimes cats may find their own way down after awhile, but only on their own terms.

In summer, a tree with no leaves or shaded spots can be especially dangerous – Your cat could become quickly dehydrated, experience heatstroke, and be too fatigued to make it’s way down. Bozeman’s cold winter months are even more dangerous, with high winds, snowfall and below-freezing temperatures: Hypothermia, frostbite and loss of life are all possible.

Other times, cats may linger up a tree or structure indefinitely when they cannot find a way down that makes them feel safe. After 48 hours without food and water, cats can become lethargic and simply give up.

We are highly trained to scale & traverse trees, and able to follow your cat anywhere it might climb. We will carefully and gently coax your cat out of the tree, or safely handle & capture it if necessary without causing excessive fright or distress, and we do not use chemicals or sedatives.
